How much do you know about the structure of the PAP Multilayer Composite Pipe?

How much do you know about the structure of the PAP Multilayer Composite Pipe?

RIIFO PAP Multilayer Pipe can be expected to last over 50 years. How can RIIFO achieve it? The durability of PAP Multilayer Pipes heavily depends on the raw materials, the advanced manufacturing process, and the quality control during production. According to the long-term hydrostatic curve of RIIFO Multilayer Pipes, which is the result of a test that lasts 1 year under 110℃, RIIFO Multilayer Pipes are reckoned to serve over 50 years. This passage is aimed to clarify how RIIFO Multilayer Pipes can be durable from the perspective of the structure.

Does the thickness of the plastic layers of RIIFO PAP Multilayer Pipes meet any requirements?

There are rigorous requirements for the minimum thickness of the inner and outer plastic layers of RIIFO PAP Multilayer Pipes. The thickness of all pipes is in compliance with GB/T18997, ASTM F1281 and other industrial standards for PAP Multilayer Pipes.

What requirements does the aluminum layer of RIIFO PAP Multilayer Pipes meet?

The minimum thickness of the aluminum layer of RIIFO PAP Pipes is 0.2mm. Different types of pipes have their corresponding thickness of the aluminum layer. For pipes with an outer diameter equal to or lower than 32mm, the tensile strength of the aluminum layer should be greater than 110Mpa, the elongation at break of the aluminum layer should be not less than 20% and its Vickers hardness should cover from 28.0 to 35.5. As for pipes with an outer diameter greater than 32mm, the tensile strength of the aluminum layer should be greater than 100Mpa and the last two indicators are the same as the pipes with an outer diameter equal to or lower than 32mm.

Comparison of RIIFO overlap-welded and butt-welded PAP Multilayer Composite Pipe

Overlap-Welded Pipe

Butt-Welded Pipe

Way of Moulding Co-extruded in one step with outstanding adhesive between the inner layer, the aluminum layer and the outer layer. It features a high and stable pressure resistance Formed via several steps. Both the adhesive strength and the heat resistance are not as good as that of overlap-welded pipes.
Way of Welding (in general) Ultrasonic welding Argon-arc or laser
Welding speed Low. The speed is 6~12m/min because of the lower energy of ultrasonic welding. High. The speed is up to 20~25m/min because of the higher energy of this way of welding.
Requirements of the Aluminum sheet This way of welding can weld the thinner aluminum sheets through high-quality welding strength. To ensure the quality of welding, the fringe of the aluminum sheet must be kept smooth and straight. Generally, this way of welding can’t weld the aluminum sheet thinner than 0.30mm.
Welding strength It features stable welding strength because of the wide welding area, Higher welding strength for pipes in large specifications if this way can weld perfectly. But it’s difficult to ensure stable welding for pipes with small specifications.
Roundness of pipe Ordinary Good

How does RIIFO ensure the quality of its PAP Multilayer Pipe?

RIIFO has strict quality control from raw materials to finished products. Here is part of the tests for guaranteeing the quality of RIIFO PAP Multilayer Pipe.

  • Aluminum sheet: We test the hardness, tensile strength, elongation at break of aluminum sheets, etc.
  • Hot melt adhesives: We test MFR, density, raw material tensile strength and the elongation at break of its raw material, etc.
  • Process testing includes dimensions, appearance, print information, etc.
  • Finished product testing for per batch includes long-term hydrostatic pressure, peel strength, crosslinking, dilation test, etc.
